Obituary

Verda Mae Tinsley, age 89, died early Monday, March 15, 2010, at her residence in Charleston.

Born July 10, 1920 at Commerce, Texas to the late James Perry and Lillie Mae Ellenburg Saulter, she had lived in Charleston most of her life where she was a member of the First Baptist Church and had served as a Sunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School worker for a number of years. A loving mother and wife, she put her family first having helped her husband with the family farm and was a wonderful cook.

On December 23, 1939, she married Charles Ervin Tinsley, Sr., who preceded her in death on February 16, 1989.

Surviving are: one son and daughter in law, Charles E. Jr. and Becky Tinsley of Charleston; four daughters and sons in law, Shirley and Kenneth Hopper of Oran, Mo.; Mary and Patrick Gresham of Bartlett, Tenn.; Joan and Bill Feezor of Charleston, Mo., and Dot and Steve Secoy of East Prairie, Mo.; one brother, Gene Cagle of Jackson, Mo.; four sisters, Varna Cagle and June Eastwood both of Sikeston, Mo.; Verna Lyons of Salt Lake City, Utah and Holly Causey of Kokomo, Ind.; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Ann Tinsley, one grandson, Charles Lewis Gregory, two granddaughters, Sherri Ann Gregory and Rebecca Carlene Tinsley; two brothers, James Saulter and Sonny Saulter and two sisters, Jeanne Dixon and Vera Jones.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Rev. Jack Hargraves, pastor of the Victory Chapel Church of Charleston and Rev. Dan H. Faust, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Todd Gregory, Michael Green, Billy Green, Patrick Gresham, Matt Feezor, Bryan Feezor, Charley Tinsley, Zachary Secoy and David Blackwell.
