VIOLET FAY ESTES LASTER, age 70, a resident of Sikeston, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Born May 5, 1949, at Cairo, IL, to the late John F. Estes and Jaunetia Hope Rogers Estes, she was a 1967 graduate of Charleston High School. She worked for the Division of Family Services at the East Prairie office a number of years before going to work at the Miner Baptist Church Daycare until ill health forced her retirement. Having lived in Sikeston a number of years, she was a member of the Miner Baptist Church.
On February 18, 1968, she married John W. Laster, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are her son, John David (Kristi) Laster of Republic, MO; her daughter, Amy (Jeff) Winders of Sikeston; her brother, Jerry (Joann)Estes of Humbolt, TN; her grandchildren, Jessica Laster, Andrew Winders, Sara Laster and Lauren Winders.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2019. Rev. Jerry Adams and Rev. Ron Shrum of Sikeston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Richard Slaten, Charles Tinsley, Ronnie Finley, Eddie McDowell, Jay Bledsoe and Paul Ledbetter.
