VIRGINIA WILSON BLACK, age 73, a resident of Mississippi County, died Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Charleston Manor.
She was born November 23, 1943 in Charleston to Lawrence and Evelyn Rodgers Wilson who preceded her in death. A graduate of Charleston High School, she worked as a cook in restaurants and cafeteria's until her retirement in 1986. She had lived in Mississippi County most of her life and was a member of the New Beginnings Fellowship in Charleston.
On September 6, 1988 she married Wilmer Eugene Black who preceded her in death on July 10, 1997.
She is survived by one son, Dale Ross of Charleston; one sister, Sharon Wicker of Wyatt; six grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces, great nieces and nephews and great nephews; and one great-great nephew, John Cross.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca Ann Wilson, one brother in law, John Wicker, and one great-great niece, Lula Colleen Williams.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 13, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home until the Funeral Hour at 11:00 am. Rev. Ron Aldridge, pastor of the New Beginnings Fellowship in Charleston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be James Williams, Joseph Cross, Joey Cross, Tim Williams, Jim Elser, and Eric Vinson.
