KEARNEY, MO — Vivian Ann (Dodgen) Harris, 83, died February 25, 2024, peacefully in her sleep.
Born January 27, 1941, in Lonoke, AR to the late John Wesley and Lora Beatrice McLean Dodgen. Vivian lived her childhood years in Wyatt, MO until her marriage to the late Billy "Bill" Joe Harris on August 15, 1958. She traveled from coast to coast supporting Bill's Navy career. She held several different office jobs throughout her life in the various locations.
In her retirement years, while living in Jackson, MO, Vivian volunteered to deliver food for Meal on Wheel until 2015. She was proud to be able to help her community. She enjoyed making new friend wherever she lived.
She loved being around family and creating a special bond with her grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren: Aubrietta Stoutenburg, Thomas Charles" Charlie" Burgdorf Jr, twins- Clara and Dustin Stoutenburg, and Max Burgdorf.
Vivian is survived by three children, Ladita Jones (Newton, IA), Cathy (Tom) Burgdorf (Liberty, MO), and James Harris (Manhattan, KS); one sister - Louise Weakley (Sandwich, IL), and grandchildren JB Harris (Norfolk, VA), Jennifer (Dale) Stoutenburg (Excelsior Spring, MO), Thomas (Emily) Burgdorf (Olathe, KS), Josh (Julie) Jones (La Porte City, IA), Mitchell Harris (Manhattan, KS,) Matthew Burgdorf (Fredericksburg, VA), and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe "Bill" Harris, two brothers - Joe Dodgen, and John Wesley "Pete" Dodgen, Jr. Three sisters - Hazel Brumley, Jean Ashley, and Carolyn Sue Young.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Graveside services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
Immediately following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon at the Victory Chapel Church, 409 Danforth St., Charleston, MO 63834
