Obituary

WADINE EAKER, age 87, died peacefully at her home in Sikeston on Monday, November 29, 2021.

She was born April 10, 1934 in Sikeston to Wade and Elizabeth Adams Malcolm. Following her graduation from Sikeston High School she began her teaching career in Blodgett and taught a short time before taking several years off to raise her family. She completed a Bachelor degree in Education from Southeast MO State University then returned to her career, teaching for 25 years at Southeast Elementary School in Sikeston during which time she obtained a Master's Degree in Education from Southeast Missouri State University before retiring.

A life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, she had served as a Girl Scout Leader, volunteered as a Pink Lady at Missouri Delta Medical Center, was a member of the Alpha Chi sorority, MO State Retired Teachers Association and enjoyed many interests including being a pianist, traveling, dancing, and shopping. She was an avid golfer, and member of several Bridge clubs.

On June 12, 1955 she and Ronald "Ron" Eaker were married in a double marriage ceremony with Ron's sister, Marilyn Eaker and Edward Reifler.

Surviving is her husband, Ron Eaker, and two daughters, Kathy Eaker (Mike) Bohannon of Sikeston, and Patti Eaker (Lacey) Bernard of St. Charles; her grandchildren, Charlie (Annie) Bohannon, Natalie Bohannon, Libby (Tyler) Combs, and Evan Bernard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth McCollum, Peggy Williams, Mary McAfee and Jane Allen.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to be given to VNA Hospice, PO Box 768, Kennett, MO 63857 or to the Alzheimers Association, 225 N. Michigan, Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
