Wanda Louise Basinger Hinshaw, daughter of the late Delbert and Ida (Jackson) Basinger, was born on July 11, 1953 in Canalou, Missouri. She went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the age of 72 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Krapf, and son-in-law, Stanley Krapf of Silsbee, Texas, her sisters, Mae Stokes of Sikeston, Missouri, Ola Poley of Morehouse, Missouri, and Shirley Wallace of Phoenix, Arizona. Wanda was a proud Granny to Gabrielle Parden (Ben) and Bryce Krapf, and a great-grandmother to Easton and Lakelyn Parden along with being an aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her brothers, JD Basinger, Carl Basinger, Charles Basinger, Allen Basinger, and her sister, Mary Vinson.
Wanda worked for over ten years at the Gold Bond Ice Cream Plant as a packer until she became medically unable to continue working. She took pride in her hard work and dedication. In her free time, Wanda loved gardening and was especially known for trying to grow the biggest tomatoes she could each season. She also loved getting together with her sisters and playing cards, especially rummy. Fond memories also remain of Wanda taking her grandchildren fishing, which she truly cherished.
A graveside rite ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, Wanda was always proud of the work her daughter does as a teacher, so it is asked that donations be made in Wanda’s name to support a local teacher’s classroom, a school library, or to help pay toward a student’s lunch debt.
