William "Bill" Mays, 80, of Mt. Morris, Mich. died Dec. 4, 2012 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born May 16, 1932 at Fort Douglas, Ark. to the late Joe and Robbie Mays.
A resident of Michigan for several years he was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a retired automobile manufacturing employee.
On Aug. 13, 1956 he was united in marriage to Linda Jean Coleman in Sikeston and she survives of the home. Also surviving are Jim "Bucky" and Chris Mays of North Carolina, Danny and Theresa Mays of Michigan, Janie & Craig Coleman of Michigan and Misook Wise of Florida. 9 grandchildren, Michelle Whitaker, Mikey Mays, Samantha Meyers, Zack Mays, Heather McCarter, Kyle Coleman, Rachel Wise, Ramona Wise and Raelyn Wise. 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler McCarter, Hailey McCarter and Kevin McCarter. 2 brothers, Basil Mays of Florida and Don Mays of Missouri. 1 sister, Lula "Sis" Warren of Missouri. 2 brothers, Dick Mays and Gus Mays and 1 sister, Christine Godwin preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am until time for memorial service at 12 noon on Friday, Dec. 14 at Canalou Baptist Church with Rev. Dewayne Coleman, the pastor, officiating. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at
