Obituary

WILLIAM FRANKLIN 'FRANKIE' POWELL, Age 60, a resident of East Prairie and formerly of Charleston, died at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born July 9, 1948 at St. Louis, MO to the late William Carman "Bill" and Betty Lee Griffin Powell. He had lived in Mississippi County his entire life where he was employed with MoDOT until his retirement in 1999 and had served in the Missouri National Guard for a number of years.

On May 28, 1968, he married Sharon Lee Butler who preceded him in death February 21, 2005. One November 1, 2005, he married Karen Byassee Scott who survives of the home in East Prairie.

Also surviving are: two daughters and sons in law, Leigh Ann Bone and Tim Boyer and Lisa and Chuck Simmons all of Charleston; two stepsons and one step daughter in law, Tim and Megan Parker and Aaron Scott all of East Prairie; two step daughters and one stepson in law, Missy Givens of East Prairie and Kim and Lynn Deweese of Nevada, MO; two sisters and brothers in law, Phyllis and Amos Davenport of Jackson, TN and Susie and David Stark of Sikeston; 7 grandchildren, Charlie Simmons, PFC Dustin Bone, Ethan Bone, Bruce Simmons, Blake Simmons, Abbi Simmons, Brian Simmons; 10 step grandchildren, Caleb Givens, Demi Parker, Collin Givens, Landen Parker, Madison Givens, Anna Katherine Uthoff, Alyssa Deweese, Rachel Deweese, Tucker Parker and Nolan Deweese. Also surviving are his mothers in law, Ruth Byassee of East Prairie and Elsie Shelby of New Madrid.

One son in law, Mark Alton Bone, preceded him in death, January 10, 2003.
Also preceding him in deah were his fathers in law, J.B. Byassee and Audie Lee Butler.

Funeral Services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2008,in the McMikle Funeral Home with Pat Hogan, minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, officiating.

Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were PFC Dustin Bone, Ethan Bone, Chad Stark, Randy Stark, Jeff Davenport, Tim Parker, Aaron Scott, Todd Palmer and Reese Palmer.
