McMikle Funeral Home was founded in 1951 by my parents, Elgin and Sue Allen McMikle. They opened their doors for service in East Prairie in January 1952 and then in Charleston in 1954. Our business expanded to Sikeston on February 6, 2020, with the purchase of the former Blanchard Funeral Chapel.
On January 31, 2024, Bill and I completed the transfer of McMikle Funeral Home into the capable hands of Terry A. Parker.
Terry's connection with McMikle Funeral Home began when he was a toddler. His parents worked with my parents at the funeral home for many years. Terry was 17 years old when we observed his interest in the funeral business. Many people can express their interest in the funeral industry, but when it is time to actually do the task at hand, they prefer staying in the back seat. Terry has never been content to sit in the back seat. His sincere dedication and commitment to serve is well known.
I find great peace in this transition with the knowledge that the legacy begun by my parents 73 years ago will continue into the future.
