Bob
Jackson
December 16, 1933 – March 16, 2024
Robert Charles (Bob) Jackson was born to his loving parents Marshall Charles Jackson and Martha Burke Jackson on December 16, 1933, in Sikeston, Missouri.
At the age of 90, Bob passed away peacefully at his home in rural Charleston, Missouri on March 16, 2024.
In Bob's younger years you could find him on the basketball court or learning all about farming from his Uncle Dick. In 1951, He graduated from Benton High School in Benton, Missouri.
During his senior year of High School, along with the persuasion of his peers, he signed up for the Naval Reserves. He served two years in the Naval Reserves in Memphis, Tennessee. While in Memphis, his loved blossomed for a girl back home, the beautiful Jane Russell.
Jane and Bob shared an amazing total of 71 wedded years together. They began this lifelong commitment with a marriage ceremony at the Charleston United Methodist Church in the afternoon of February 28, 1953. Little did they know what a life they would have together!
After the wedding and his commitment to the Naval Reserves, Bob finished his education at the University of Missouri. While in Columbia he became active in the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Economics.
After graduation, Bob and Jane returned to their beloved hometown of Charleston, Missouri. Bob then began his employment with French Implement.
In 1960, they welcomed their first child, a son, Robert Marshall. Two years later came a daughter, Martha Jane. With two young children in their home, they decided they needed to buy a home and a couple acres of farm ground. In 1965, they purchased what became their forever farmstead and began many new adventures.
One of these was beginning his business, BJ Brangus, where he along with Jane and their children raised a well-respected breed of beef cattle know as Brangus. Bob loved to talk about his 25 years in the cattle business. He was extremely proud of all he accomplished and especially for his prized bull named Gossip. "Everyone is talking about him, that is why he is called Gossip" was a popular quote of Bob's. While he was involved in the implement business, cattle business, and thereafter, he mentored his son and grandson in establishing their own row crop operation, Jackson Farms. He was a born farmer and left a great legacy.
Never wanting to be idol, Bob and Jane then began yet other adventures, taking many trips with friends. They frequently visited their second home on Kentucky Lake where Bob spent hours fishing from his crappie boat. Another of their adventures led them to their special spot of Okeechobee, Florida.
Bob was a devoted member of the Charleston United Methodist Church. Over the years you could find him in the basement or in the new church's kitchen along with his close friends chopping BBQ for the yearly church BBQ fundraiser.
Bob was a farmer, a husband, a father, a grandfather to Matt, but above all a cherished Papa to two little blonde great granddaughters. Caroline Jane and Lily Faye adored their Papa. In Bob's recent years, you could find his two great granddaughters sitting on his lap while he was at home. The girls were a proud topic of his conversations with friends. One could say they were wrapped around his fingers.
Bob was a divine storyteller, a historian of sorts. He was very intrigued with republican politics. He loved to read novels on many variations of topics. You could always bet that Bob had a couple of books for him wrapped underneath the Christmas tree.
He leaves behind his beloved Jane Russell Jackson. A proud son, Robert (Jenneth) Jackson of Charleston, MO. A loved grandson, Matt (Vanessa) Jackson of Charleston, MO, and their treasured young girls Caroline Jane and Lily Faye.
With heavenly arms he is has been reunited with his daughter Martha Jane.
