Cynthia Lynn Moates (Sevic), affectionately known as Cyndi, graced the world with her presence on March 29, 1965, born to Wiley Joe and Iva Lee Sevic in Cairo, Illinois. Her life was rich with love, laughter, and the warmth of family.
Following her graduation, Cyndi embarked on a new chapter in Phoenix, Arizona, where fate led her to Charles Moates, the love of her life. Together, they built a home filled with joy, raising their two cherished sons. Over two decades, they forged deep connections and friendships that became a second family. With a longing for her roots, her father, and extended family, Cyndi returned to Missouri, carrying the warmth of her Arizona years with her.
Cyndi found solace and joy in the pages of countless books, the delicate art of sewing, the comforting aroma of freshly baked goods, the thrill of discovering hidden treasures while shopping, the quiet beauty of her garden, and, most importantly, the shared laughter and love of her family. Her culinary talents were legendary, and every meal was a masterpiece crafted with care.
Cyndi leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished by her devoted husband, Charles Moates; her loving brothers, Frank Sevic (Jacqueline) and Barry Sevic (Kim); her beloved sons, Dustin and Jarod (Abygail); her precious granddaughter, Wiley-Jo; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold her memory dear. She now joins her father, Wiley Joe Sevic Sr., her mother, Iva Lee Shannon, and her brother, Brian Scott Sevic, in eternal peace.
After a brief illness, Cyndi peacefully passed away in the embrace of her loving family at her Sikeston home on March 2, 2025. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
