Mary Parr DeSousa, age 80, of Cape Girardeau, MO, died Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born August 7, 1946, at Middletown, New York, to the late John Francis Dwyer and Eleanor Jean Craig Dwyer, Mary grew up in New York and at a young age moved to Southeast Missouri where she remained the rest of her life, living in Sikeston a number of years. Mary was an outgoing person and loved to spend time with her friends. She was of the Catholic belief.

She was married to Joseph DeSousa who preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters, Marissa Parr (Keith) Smith and Michelle Parr (John) Richardson; her grandchildren, Makayla (Tyler) Hawkins, Madison Henry, Kali Rose Smith, Drew Smith, Mako Smith and Asthon Richardson; her great grandchildren, CJ. Hawkins, Scarlett Hawkins and Charley Cameron; her bonus son, Curtis Elrod; her brothers, John (Debbie) Dwyer and Craig (Linda) Dwyer, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Donnie Elrod.

Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m., Thursday at the Dogwood Cemetery with Keith Cook officiating.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
