Sue “Sue Roo” O’Connor, 69, of East Prairie, MO, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born in Charleston, MO, on January 23, 1957, to the late J.D. O’Connor and Dixie Lee Clark Counts and was also raised by her Step- Father, Kenny Counts. She was a lifelong resident of East Prairie, where she built a life filled with love, friendship, and service to others.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Shelley Weakley, and her precious grandsons, Braeden Marcum and Connor Marcum, and well as her sisters Nicka O’Connor, Kristi Pack and Karen O’Conner, and her brother, Todd Counts. Several nieces and nephews and a long list of cousins also survive. She also leaves behind many extended family members, lifelong friends, and countless people whose lives were touched by her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Melissa Weakley, her son, Scotty Weakley, her brothers, Joe Wayne O’Connor and Smokey O’Connor.

Throughout her life, Sue worked in several different careers, each one reflecting her caring and outgoing personality. She was a beloved bartender at her family’s business, where she met hundreds of people who quickly became more like family than customers. Her welcoming spirit made everyone feel right at home.

She later spent several years working in housekeeping at the nursing home, where she naturally fit right in, sharing her compassion and friendship with residents and coworkers alike. She concluded her working career as an in-home caregiver, faithfully caring for others with the same love and dedication she showed throughout her life.

On June 22, 2026, she publicly professed her faith in Jesus Christ by being baptized in her own yard, surrounded by those she loved. It was a beautiful expression of the faith that brought her peace and hope.

Although her life on earth ended far too soon, her family and friends find comfort in knowing she is now safely in God’s hands. She has been reunited with those who entered Heavens gates before, and a celebration Sue has patiently waited for.

Sue will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to family, her willingness to help anyone in need, and the joy she brought to every room she entered. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the First Church of God in East Prairie. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the church with Stanley Triplett of East Prairie officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Braeden Marcum, Connor Marcum, brother, Todd Counts, Charles Wayne Thurman, Ivan Jones and John Gorostiza.
