Obituary

Vernon Kendall Evans was born on April 14, 1968 to Yvonne and Freddie Evans Jr. in Chicago, Illinois. Vernon attended Vanderpool Elementary school in Chicago before his family relocated to Wilson City, Mo. Vernon graduated from Charleston Senior High School in 1986 where he was a star athlete in football and basketball and their team won various championships.

Vernon later attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo. Where he majored in Criminal Justice. During that time, Vernon and a group of friends established their own fraternity "Mo Phi Bo".

In 1989 Vernon along with his cousin and a group of friends relocated back to Charleston and started an organization called the Brick House Boys.

Vernon had a passion for cooking and detailing cars at the family business (The Whole9) but most of all he loved being with his family. Vernon was a peaceful and loving person with a contagious laugh and smile and was Loved by ALL.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Josi and Freddie Evans Sr. and Willie Debra Adams and Nathaniel Patterson; four children, two sons, Vernon Haynes, Tobias Moore; two daughters, Sidgourney Straughter and Kimyata Haynes; one granddaughter, Verntasia Haynes.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his parents, Yvonne and Freddie Evans, Jr. of Charleston, Mo.; one sister, Kimberly (Tony) Evans-Vincent of Fairfax, VA; two brothers, Rubin and Fredrick (Yolanda) Evans of Charleston, MO; one God brother, Rev. Thomas Evans of Chicago, IL; six sons, Brent Williams of Jacksonville, FL, Christopher Nunnally of Chicago, IL, Zecoby Moore, Shannon (Danielle) Henderson, Kevonte Ulmer, Wesley Williams, Deveontrez McCain of Charleston, MO; ten daughters, Shertrica (Fletcher) Haynes, Gina (Bernard) Betts, Kiesha Henderson, Jalisa Bogan, Eniyah Thomas and Brittney Bruenderman of Charleston, MO, Miesha (Je'Quashia) Henderson, Adrennia Evans, Valancia Evans of Cape Girardeau, MO, Funtasia Clark of St. Louis, MO; and estranged wife, LaSonya Clark Evans, a best friend, Jerome Green, a host grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until the funeral hour at 2 o'clock, Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Charleston.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston, Missouri.
